Why the two jobs belong in one visit

A patch is only half the work. Compound, tape and new primer take paint differently than the wall around them, so a repair that is simply touched up often shows as a dull square or a flashing spot in daylight. We finish the drywall, prime the repair, then paint out the full wall or ceiling to the nearest corner so the surface reads as one colour and one sheen. Cracks at corner beads, nail pops, doorknob holes, water-stained ceilings after a roof or plumbing leak, torn paper from removed tile or wallpaper, and open gaps left by an electrician or plumber are all routine for us.

What to expect on an Ottawa repair and repaint

We start by looking at the cause, not just the mark. A ceiling stain gets checked for moisture before anything is closed up, and a recurring crack tells us whether it needs mesh tape and a proper three-coat build or a full section of new board. Furniture is moved or covered, floors are protected, and we keep sanding dust under control rather than leaving it for you.

Most repairs need a taping coat, one or two fill coats and a sanding pass, and each coat has to dry before the next one goes on. That is why a small hole is rarely a ten-minute job: a single room with a few patches is usually one day for the drywall work and another for primer and finish coats. Larger jobs — a stained ceiling, a wall opened for renovations, or several rooms at once — take longer, and we tell you the schedule before we start.

What changes the price

Every quote is based on the surface in front of us, but the same things move the number: how many repairs there are and how big each one is; whether the damage is in drywall, plaster or a textured or stippled ceiling that has to be matched; ceiling height and whether staging is needed; how much masking and furniture protection the room takes; whether water damage needs a stain-blocking primer; and how much of the wall or ceiling has to be repainted to hide the repair cleanly. Colour changes and trim work add coats and cutting-in time.
